Ambiguities

Handrail Reflection
What’s a reflection
When perspectives are bending
Light and reality
Hiding what we see
And turns it into what we believe
This is what it means
For dreams to breathe
In time and space
Ideas and thoughts
Are given a face
But whose face is it really
When a mind’s always reeling
Afraid of losing
Pre-felt feelings
Stuck in the past
With a moment
Never meant to last
Just trying to grasp
The idea
That we are free
Only when aware
Of the ability to breathe
Able to help
Souls in need
Creating new foundations
And constructing philosophies
While building internal crutches
To answer life’s ambiguities

Boarding Pass

On a plane ride
going sky high,
traveling to Chicago
joined by others
with the power to fly
Through time and space
displacing
struggles with rhymes
embracing my issues
while I choose to turn
internal conflict
into public news,
Sharing how I make it through
when moments seem unbearable
I wonder how to care any more,
Wondering what the boarding pass
to life would be
when time’s often spent
boringly,
instead of seeing
this life as a journey
every breath of oxygen
rewarding,
finding infinite peace
between the bars
of songs praised for
emotionally following along,
as if my words
have already been said
understood and turned into music
before this moments laid to rest,
Lest we forget
every soul we haven’t met,
To know living life to the fullest
is not only the ultimate bet,
but the boarding pass
to gain a past
we’d never wish to regret.

Shifting Perspectives

With this propensity
Proclivity to write constantly
When I put things in a rhyme
they just make more sense to me
So I’m constantly repeating
what I’m trying to make myself believe in
Tired of crying needlessly
when it’s the perspective
that needs shifting
Not just sifting through
the pieces of the puzzle but
Altogether viewing it differently
cause nothing’s really meant to be
Coincidence mistaken for fate frequently
This universe can’t be plotted
Until you see this you wont be free
Still free to disagree
with this philosophy
regardless of the cognitive ease you
experience when every sentence
feels a part of some flow
as if I meant this
wording arrangement
to show you that greatness
Is simply meaning created
of dreamt up words
strung into a smoothly consumed statement

The Best Way to Act

Enter the park
And feel the
breathing of trees
As if nature
too
has a heart
Beating and free
This is what I feel
when breeze is revealed
Time slows down
I can see what is real
and of that which repeats
In the past, present, and future
An inner Gratitude happily weeps

Jubilant dogs and families
Passed by runners
And bicycling partners
Enjoying an ever fleeting summer
All moving past
baseball game
in its last inning
Of the same game
But different players
How is life not a game
When it can be split into frames
Of win and of loss
With rules just so carefully
Placed out of our grasp
Thrown on an initial path
With too little time to do all the math
To look up and see
we’re all just people
Clueless on the same track
Often too scared to share the fact
that we don’t really know
the best way to act.

Gratitude

So make the most of it
Dont fall and quit
On your heart
The moment it tears apart
Loss is coming and it’s going to pack a punch
Death is around the corner, this isn’t just a hunch
Wake up – Now is the time to wake up!
Emotions are coming and you need to be strong
Enough to embrace them
Enough to move on
But never forgetting
That the dead live on
So long as you remember
To continue their song

Cause in life we are a combination of these two things
A self that experiences and a self that thinks
We are the sum of our total experiences
With a capacity of our human awareness
When the time comes when we pass this
The only loss is the continuous additiveness
To our own take on lifes experiences

Storing shared moments
Of a fleeting bliss
Sprinkled with bits of painfulness
Yet look at all the togetherness
Envision the people that led to this
See this world as a communal wish
To grasp this ideal of happiness
From them a lesson not to miss
That in the end,
Gratitude is the answer to anguish
