And So I Write

One step at a time
Pen in hand
Using paper as an extension of mind
Working through a tension to find
The balance between
Uncontrolled thought
The source of creativity
And the sense of distraught
Aware of Earth’s calamities
Genocide of humanities
Dangers running rampantly
That we can’t handle if we disagree

A heart desensitized from frantically
Following headlines religiously
From famine and disease
To consistent atrocities
We’re far from a stability
Cause when you look at history
Its stained with blood and misery
Seems like such a mystery
How any progress has been made
In the face of such disdain
For human life, both day and night
A thirst for power fuels the urge to fight

While I sit here hopelessly
Facing the fact that now I’m aware
And feeling pretty jaded
With an underlying hatred
And an ever present sense of dread
That soon enough I’ll end up dead
Wonder what’s the point of pressing
This pen to paper
And then I remember
I’m not alone
There’s still parts of humanity
That, Oh! have ever flown
A brightness shown
Through blackest night
That our hearts can grow
Art’s worth the fight
A responsibility shared
To spread the light
And for these reasons I find the might
To think it through with the urge to write

Aflame

Aflame now
Time to inspire
The inner fire
No longer afraid of giving up
The shows can wait
Put the games on pause
The dreams are here and will move on
I refuse to stop and drop
This chance to prove my ability
Improve reality
Intentionally
I wish to see
To speak of a prophecy
Turn it into history
These actions aren’t a mystery
Just tools to me
Absent of misery
With my hands working along with me
A mind and heart as one
Working together
A universe before me
Lay unseen opportunity
Now’s the time to grasp it
We’re all headed for the same casket
Death around the corner
There’s no way to mask it
Released from doubt
It’s time to look past it
Cause I’m not alone
Friends by my side
And a team in tow
Until I die
I choose to grow

Seriously, Wake Up

Blind
Like a mind cut off from its senses
Horror after horror leave my heart defenseless
Wondering when’s this
Bullshit going to end
One environment we can’t mend
So long as selfish desires
Trump the need to lend a hand
To prevent self-caused fires

Humanity can still be something to admire
So long as we inspire
The world to open its eyes
Climate change is real
Its time to see through the lies
Recognize it’s more than just you
But all the lives to follow
Who deserve a world, not just a hollow
Shell of what could have been
Hell becomes reality
When there’s no more air for breathing in
Now’s the time to take it in
Hopefully we all can come and bring
Something positive to the table
Work together, make it stable
This is life, not a fable

Our actions always have a cost
Whose price has been paid by the Nature we have lost

Degeneration Frustration

Can’t look away
Overtaken by fear and amazement
Seeing parts of the world that haven’t even changed yet
Death and destruction reported daily on the global net
Diseases running wild
Now I’m fretting what’ll happen next

Religious fundamentalism
Only aims to disrupt the wisdom
That we are one Human race
On a rock out in space
Given time and a place
To lock arms and embrace
Instead we only can deface
Spilling blood in vicious haste

Not seeing religion as an attempt to make sense
Of the unanswered questions
That science still has left
Taking people in on the promise of deliverance
Turn them into pawns in a battle of dominions
Quick to stir bloodshed on the basis of opinions

Using people’s dreams as a means to an end
Separating unity by making foe out of friend

Amidst Thinnest Air

Stop and think
The quest for truth is not worth your youth
There is no shop
No magical mystic’s booth
To tell you that one plus two is three, definitively
These are cognitive patterns
One in which we all agree

A chair is a chair
Merely a symbol that connects a sound with what’s there
In a mind reconstructing imagery out of thinnest air
We find a misery deep in despair
When we try to link the sound of happiness
With meaning that’s shared
Facing a disconnect
Between our dreams and where
We are currently
Finding it hard to believe
That love has not been lost
That our soul can be freed

But now stop, you see
For you’ve just condemned yourself preemptively
So I ask you not to worry about finding the truth
For in life there won’t be a simple solution
Instead, a complex polarity brought into fusion
Perplexed momentarily in constant confusion
Let go of full understanding, the darkest illusion
Point your sails forward, and keep on moving
For though the truth will never be known
The quest to reach it can be quite amusing

Days and Days

The days come and the days go
One day you’re dumb, one day you know
When once you said yes, now you say no
Time is irrelevant, so long as you’re in flow

Attempting a Courtesy

Attempting to create a sense of urgency
Not late, just now, a cure to see
A courtesy
To share a truth so burdening
That always from within theres an ever present urge to bring
A sense of continuity
Rational thoughts progressing fluidly
Just like one plus two always leads to three
I wonder where me and you can agree
Whole heartedly
Beyond the disconnect of artistic subjectivity
Attempting to bridge the gap between the minds of our humanity

Recovery Road

Ooo this breeze. The kind you can hear
As it zooms past both your ears
Steering you clear
From insincere
Feelings on life
The weight becomes possible to bear
When seeing you’re not the only one there
This distance between us
Could be miles or the width of a hair
All that matters
Is how much we’ve prepared
To be confident
With collective encouragement
To put our hearts on our sleeves
So we can start again
Seeing every breath as a new turn up at bat
Combining hope for the future with lessons from the past
In an infinite inning
Where the end of every moment
Is the start of a beginning
Bringing
A silence worth singing for
A page worth writing more
Helping spread the message for all those with hearts torn
That you too can be reborn
So hold on to all the love you got left
And be prepared for a journey to recover all the rest

Sidelines of War

Innocent civilians don’t deserve rubble
They deserve jobs and parks
Enjoyed without the trouble
Of separating one body from another
And wonder
When the pain will slumber
Thunder
Man made storms creating hunger
Only concerned with ever sundering
A potentially connected humanity
Instead creating a world in which death is all we see
How do we break free?
Watching war from the sidelines
Firing of distant guns just sound like passing headlines

More news just paralyzes
A mind that refuses to realize that
Through the bias and through the lies
There exists a part of humanity that I despise

Finding no way to reconcile
Today replaced with old denial
That we can’t just love and live a while
Hate and fear create thoughts like bile

So let’s be the generation that can rise above
For if no one is left to teach the world
How will it ever learn the power of love?

Dreams in the Mirror: Part 10

I’m here now
Somebody for you to believe in
I’ve come to start weaving
Together separated threads
Of reality mixed with love and with dread
No longer used to treading on the safer side
Finding it easier to run and to hide
From problems to share yet no one to confide in
When you just want to open up
And renew an inner trust
Between your past, future, and present
States of mind, I’m here to represent the idea
That you can write through your fears
Vocalize the struggle you’ve been fighting for years
Countless tears
For these internal battles are shared
More frequently than you’d expect
We’re all souls drifting
Not knowing what’ll happen next
Whose life can flip upside down
By taking a right turn instead of a left
But not left alone, cause time again has shown
We can connect so long as we’re together
And collectively choose to grow
Finding internal flow
You’ll definitely know
In the realm of self-reflection
Look in the mirror and enjoy the show

FIN — I hope you enjoyed!
