Live Undivided

Close your eyes
Breathe in
Breathe out
Other distractions you can live without
As you already know the next step
The path only appears forked to those with hesitation left

Open your heart and truly listen
To the rhythm of the world
A life that glistens
Accept your pains and begin dismissing
States of mind which cloud your vision
Become aware of the illusion of division
Between the Universe and you, there is no fission

Onward to 2015!

What a year it has been!

I’ve grown a lot more comfortable opening up and expressing my thoughts here. Coming to the realization that the words themselves do not matter as much as the emotion or meaning they aim to convey. Much like how a photograph fails to portray the stunning fluidity of a river, each poem is an attempt to take a snapshot of flowing water. Though the words themselves continue to exist, they are evidence of something much more. I could never fully recreate a poem word for word — as that moment has already passed with a new one to replace it.

I’d like to share my most viewed and enjoyed posts from 2014:

These are my stepping stones towards a dream of mine. I would love to somehow end up as a song writer and there’s no better way to start than by pumping out poems.

Once again, thank you for reading, writing, liking, and viewing. Your support is what keeps my blog alive.

Here’s to 2015! Let’s make it a good one!

Today You Triumpth

Something about living right feels so amazing
Once that inner fire is lit, just let it keep blazing
No, the road isn’t easy to allow your heart to keep displacing
All your fears and doubts before life starts fading
It’s the heres and nows that require your attention
This very moment is the ultimate lesson
Not yesterday
Not tomorrow
Today is the moment to no longer borrow

For time is not a currency that can be repaid
Dreams are meant to be lived
Not merely stashed away
Hoping for another day
Praying for the energy to come your way

You don’t exist alone and you’re not the only one
Who has unfinished business with matters of the heart
Take these words in and let them kickstart your path to playing the better part
As we’re all just acting between the roles of hero and villain
Often depending on the day, it’s one way or the other
For one reason or another, we either triumph or we suffer

Happiness Resonation

We are the universe
Among these stars lay our own verse
Of a song sung by everything in existence
Every breath of life dancing to each passing instance
Of impending death advancing, yet still in the distance

The line between where we start and where we end
Is as blurry as it’ll ever be, to know is just pretend
For in this very second
This fleeting moment of time
Here is consciousness aware of being alive
Able to experience the days and the nights
The darks and the lights
Wrongs and rights
All seem to come together
When understanding one does not exist without the other
As ‘yes’ is what gives meaning to the definition of ‘no’
To understand hot, you must also think of cold
A persistent polarity revealing the secrets I wish to know

That a life of happiness can only be led by living one with sadness in tow
While resonating with our World, and always choosing to grow

Join Me

2010-02-28: Worshipping the Sun
I know you have the capacity
To treat your own self with animosity
Not afraid to attack who you’re trying to be
Whether or not it’s consciously
You seem to battle constantly
Between competing desires
Of both motivation and apathy

Look back over the past few years
Though change has been plenty
We still share the same hopes and same fears
Unable to shake these same tears
Mistakes aplenty like one too many beers

My friend, I need you to listen close
And close your eyes
Open them to this surprise
That here you are, so alive
Take a breath and recognize
Your heart’s still pumping
Soul still thumping
With a brain whose memories remain intact
In fact, already aware that this moment won’t last

Hear my words and let me ask
What if you decided to pass
Pass on the things that you know will hurt you
Skip over the part when you feel Love desert you
Instead join me here in this moment
A renewed chance to continue to grow yet
The road ahead that no one can know yet
Your life is now, it’s time to just own it

Embracing Dreams

snowyphoto

What we need is some inflation
Of positive sensation
As we’re growing in this nation
A nation of once slave owners
Once blatantly segregated
Yet now that the visible walls are down
It’s time to break the ones that can’t be seen
To move beyond frames of mind which embody racism and hatred

A scene of obscene lack of empathy
As if people don’t care to be one connected family
On this tree of biological entities
In an existence marked by the intersection of the emotional and the logical
The true and nonsensical

Where we have more power than we think
To change and affect the flow of our human race
To champion a cause
Bringing meaning to our Place
Not through demeaning based on a face
But through acting with Love
With the whole world embraced

Fractal of Life

Patterns
Series and sequences
Turning in all directions
Containing no meaning until cognizant perceptions
Visible connections
Audible reflections of the vibration that surrounds us
Everything linked in this World of the Wondrous
Look around and you too will see
The ever-present work of Love, this desire to be free
To aspire to be me
Continually growing into my potential to become as bright as the shining Sun
Sharing warmth and comfort to those who’ve just begun
Not stressed enough to forget about the fun
As these fleeting moments end just like they begun
Here for a second, and now already done

Synchronous Emotions

You’re not expected to do this alone
Pushing back against the darkness all on your own
Coldness surrounding, finding it difficult to be bold
Difficult to hold onto calm states of mind
Resisting the urge to let life leave you behind
Struggling to surface above rough waters too high

Though the journey is greater than the destination
It doesn’t make the pain any less frustrating
For as much as I want to move forward
I desire to fall back
Self-damaging choices bringing my ideals under attack
As if I wasn’t grateful for all that I have
I still can’t help but feel crushingly sad

That’s when I remember
This pain was never meant to be borne as one
Together we empower each other
Just like the warming from our Sun
With the responsibility to be open and honest
As we progress through our darkness
With various moments of fleeting bliss
A chance to show this truthfulness
That Love is the ultimate light to our wishes
The guide to our visions
And in working together
We lessen our fissions

Dance to Life

Stress
Begets moments of relief
Small wins to weave together
Stories of growth
Joys and sorrows
The mixture of both
A story of hope
Choosing to hold onto a lifeline’s rope

A continuous experience
Of unpredictable situations
With memorable sensations
From crippling doubt to sweetest elations
Here we exist in this world of temptations
World of frustrations

But once you see life as a single chance
To grow into the best romance
Falling in love with your own heart’s dance
Life starts to feel a bit enhanced
When overcome with emotions as abundant as oceans
Losing one’s soul to the flow of their motions
Heartbeat inducing rhythm eroding dark notions

That there is a certain way to be
That we do not live free
Instead we dance for you and for me
We dance because we can
Because it makes us happy

Overweight Is Not Beautiful

You know what’s not beautiful
Living with poor choices
Using food as a means to escape reality
Rather than enjoy it
Destroying bags of chips as they go straight to my hips
Because I’m psychologically addicted to the feeling
Of crunching and consuming
Munching and resuming
The same re-fleeting feeling of momentary assuming
That so long as I can eat some more
Feelings will fade away

Assuming that when emotionally cornered
By a series of frustrating events
That I can decide to binge in order to forget my stance
Forget myself and my dreams
Rather than endure, I feed myself as a means
To reach the feeling of something other than
Facing my own self in the mirror
Because what’s scary is often the picture clearer
I don’t feel comfortable in my own skin

I can’t handle a confidence deflated
Due to a stomach I’ve inflated
There’s no real debate here
Just facing results of these past years
Button popping, towel tightening, relationship fears
Insecurity overwhelming

To those able to do it
You’re stronger than I
For I can’t use inner beauty as an excuse
To cover up self-abuse
When every single time
I had a series of choices all in a line
Where consistently I decided to leave behind
The state of mind that focuses on long-term health and feeling alive
Instead I chose that it’s ok to die
Slowly but surely for that whole key lime pie

We are humans
Not meant to be triple XL
From all these poor choices
I’ve given my organs hell
Trying to do the job of 3 times the size
For a body that’s grown at least 3 times as wide
Instead of stronger

You want to know why I HATE being fat
It’s facing the fact that my choices were not all that
A feeling where I don’t want that gal to grab my ass
Because its way too jello, and jiggles way too fast
